Shine a light on mental health exhibition at Salmon Arm Art Gallery, closes Nov 29th.

There’s still a week left to see the “Shine a light on Mental Health” collaborative exhibition at the Salmon Arm Art Gallery. I have been running a creative art table at the community meals program since February of this year and many of the wonderful people who sat down with me to be creative donated their art as part of this collaboration. It has been really cool and also helpful with my own mental health to meet people in the community and share creativity and a healthy meal. It was challenging for me to put everyone’s work together in a cohesive piece but with help from the coordinator Monica, past curator Tracy, current curator Erin, and the gallery exhibition technical advisor, Eric we managed to find a way. We wanted to emphasize the process of creativity through making connections. We had very generous donations of art supplies and yarn to create the symbolic connections between the pieces. Everything was then hung from willow branches from my yard. Below are some process pics in my studio. It was pretty messy at first but it looks great on the wall in the gallery!
